I am a book lover in every sense of the word. There really aren't many books that I don't like, except maybe the really trashy romance novels.
I've loved books since I was a child, mostly mystery and detective stories. I absolutely loved the Nancy Drew mysteries. I read every one of them. About 10 times each. Yeah I know it's bad. I liked the Encyclopedia Brown mysteries as well, but they weren't as good as Nancy Drew.
As I got older, I started with Mary Higgins Clark and Patricia Cornwell. John Grisham soon joined the list as well. Being the history lover that I am, Tom Clancy joined the crowd.
Now, on to the present. I still love my "big girl" books for those few moments I can squeeze in some me time. With a very active 18 month old running around the house, that doesn't happen very often.

My focus now is on children's books. I want my son to grow up loving books as much as I love them. Add to that currently going to school for Elementary and Special Education and being an Education Consultant for Usborne Books and More, I think children's books may be a good fit.
This blog is not only about our love for books as a family, but the need to share that love with the community. I want to touch the lives of other children and encourage them to love reading as much as I do. This blog will also serve as a way to encourage parents to get their children interested in reading. I will provide tips, strategies, and activities to help your child figure out what their likes and dislikes are, and to choose reading material accordingly.
If I can get just one child to pick up SOMETHING and read and actually enjoy it, I feel like I've done my job.
